Cesar & Andrea Vigil-Ruiz

My name is Cesar Vigil-Ruiz and I am a member at Lighthouse Bible Church. I currently work in Carlsbad, as well as tutor in math and science. I completed my BA in Philosophy at UCSD in 2012. I came to Lighthouse when a former member invited me while involved with Crossroads Campus Ministries at UCSD. I very much appreciated the teaching, and later realized God used His Word to save me during my sophomore year in college. I became a member in 2006 to fulfill part of the Great Commission and grow as a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

Some of my hobbies include, running, reading, hiking, playing chess, and soccer. My favorite food is adobada tacos from Tacos el Gordo, my favorite ice cream is vanilla, my favorite book is The Holiness of God by R.C. Sproul, my favorite movie is The Cinderella Man, and my favorite song is “Face to Face” from Indelible Grace Music.

My favorite verse is 2 Corinthians 5:21, which says, “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we become the righteousness of God.” This verse sums up what came before (2 Corinthians 5:11-20) and gives a glimpse into the love the Father has for wicked sinners by making Christ our substitute for sin, that we may be given the righteousness of Christ. This is the most succinct summary of the Gospel I have seen, and it’s from God Himself!

I have been on Lumos staff from 2008-2011, and returned after a year with the Singles Ministry, and am looking forward to see what God does in the lives of our youth!

Hi!  I’m Andrea and I’m a 4th grade teacher.  In my opinion, 4th grade is the best year!  Everyday is a new challenge!

How I came to LBC: I started coming to LBC towards the end of 2007 because of a friend who kept asking me to join her.  I was always hesitant to go because I didn’t like being the new person in any context.  But, I remember going to a Christmas concert and then started attending LBC more consistently at the beginning of 2008.  I became a member later that year.

Hobbies:  Reading, going on nature walks/hikes. watching movies, and just hanging out with family and friends!

Favorite song:  “All I Have is Christ” – This song is such a great reminder that everything else pales in comparison to having Christ.  Christ is the BEST thing I can have!  There is nothing that this world can offer that can be better!

Favorite Bible verse: I never seem to have just ONE favorite verse.  Currently, I am really enjoying what Psalm 90:12 says : “So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.”  This verse speaks to my miniscule position compared to God’s grand position.  It reminds me that God is the one who controls and is in charge of all things.  My life here on this earth is not everlasting, and so, I must take advantage of the time I do have to do the work of the Lord!
I am very excited to serve on Lumos!  I’m looking forward to getting to know the youth, as well as getting to learn more about God and the Bible with the youth and staff!
